“Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery” Marshmallow Cereal Treats with Dried Cranberries and Raisins
I have always been a huge fan of Rice Krispie Treats, especially homemade ones. Since it’s been a while from the last time I made Rice Krispie treats, this morning at 7am I decided I was due to make a fresh batch. I’m always looking to experiment with recipes, and while this isn’t a fancy recipe, I thought it could use a little twist. So instead I used Strawberry Yogurt Burst Cheerios, Smart Start Maple Brown Sugar Flakes and Fiber One Original cereals in place of Rice Krispies. I also added dried cranberries and raisins…I’m trying to be a little healthy here :)
What You Need:
3 Cups Of Mixed Cereal
1/4 Cup Craisins
1/4 Raisins
1/2 Bag of Mini Marshmallows
1.5 Tbsp Butter
1. Line an 8x8 pan with wax paper and grease with PAM.
2. In a large microwave safe bowl, combine butter, raisins, craisins and marshmallows. Microwave for about 3 minutes. Using a greased spatula, fold in the cereals. Add more cereal or dried fruit if needed.
3. Scoop the mixture into the lined baking dish. Grease a large piece of wax paper and use it to press the cereal mixture into the baking dish.
4. Allow to cool, then cut into squares and remove from pan.
*Store at room temperature for about 2 days.
**Need a chocolate fix? Add chocolate chips to the recipe, or melt chocolate and drizzle on top.
