On my Delish List: Sarabeth’s
The next stop on my food journey through New York City was Sarabeth’s.  Four of my friends and I braved the freezing cold weather on Saturday and met up for brunch at Sarabeth’s at Central Park South.  The place was jam packed!  Considering it was about 25-30 degrees outside, everyone stood inside packed in tight like sardines.  We were told that there was a 45 minute wait, but I was assured that the wait was worth it.
I stood there waiting while my stomach was basically eating itself, and watched as people at the tables around me ordered amazing looking breakfast foods like the pumpkin waffle with all the toppings, giant omelette’s, french toast and pancakes dripping with syrup.  I seriously thought about stealing off other people’s plates! (You do not want to be around me when I’m hungry, I get very cranky).
Finally, after a little over an hour, we were seated in the back of the restaurant at a nice corner table.  We quickly ordered a basket of muffins for all of us to share, while we looked over the menu.  The waiter quickly returned with the $12 basket of muffins, which we all attacked once he put the basket down.  The muffins were good, but not great.
I fought back and forth as to what I should order, and I finally decided to go with an egg white omelette with goat cheese, spinach and tomato.  It was good, but again it was not great, certainly not worth $13 dollars.  Although, Lisa picked a winner again this meal.  The almond crusted french toast was so yum!  If you venture over to Sarabeth’s I highly recommend this dish, you will be very happy!
Lastly, I stole a bite of my friend Michelle’s homefries, which were smothered in onions and peppers.  They were tasty, but I prefer my homefries well done.
All in all it was a decent dining experience.  The food and service were very good, but it was an expensive brunch!  So if you’re looking for a trendy place to have brunch in a great location, Sarabeth’s is the place for you.
