“Go Bananas!”- Quick Bananas Foster Oatmeal
So when I woke up this morning it was 30 degrees…that’s really cold for South Florida!  I know its not cold compared to those of you in the Northeast, but for this Florida girl, it was pretty chilly!
In an effort to warm up, I decided to throw together a quick, delish breakfast that would satisfy my hot breakfast craving.  I decided oatmeal would do the trick.  I love oatmeal, but sometimes, it just gets boring just having oatmeal with cinnamon, or oatmeal with brown sugar.  So I decided to make my famous quick “bananas foster” topping to go on my oatmeal.  Trust me, this bananas foster recipe is low-fat and definitely doesn’t lose that crazy good flavor!
What you need:
Old-fashioned Oats
Raisins
1 banana
2-3 tbsp Maple Syrup (Low-fat)
Chopped Walnuts (Optional)
Water
1. Pour desired amount of oatmeal into pot with a handful of raisins.  Add water (see package instructions for amount).

2. Cook oatmeal according to package instructions.  Meanwhile, slice 1 banana into a microwave safe dish or measuring cup.  Add 2-3 tbsp of maple syrup.  Then place dish in microwave for about 1 minute or until banana mixture boils.

3. Remove cooked oatmeal from stove and pour into a bowl.  Top with the hot banana topping, then add walnuts and extra raisins.  (You can also add a splash of cold milk-which is the way I love to eat it!)
4. Serve immediately and enjoy!!!

*I also use the banana foster topping for my pancakes, waffles and ice cream!  This banana foster recipe is a big hit for anyone who loves that bananas foster flavor.
**If you decide to use this topping for waffles or pancakes, you may want to increase the amount of syrup.
