“You’ll Want a Ton Wanton”- Wonton’s filled with Cream Cheese and Sweet Chili Sauce
Superbowl is right around the corner and I’m sure that some people are really looking forward to the game and the commercials.  But, I bet you that most people are looking forward to what kind of food is going to be served at the Superbowl parties.  At least that’s what I would be thinking.  So in an effort to help those who are in need of some interesting Superbowl party recipes, I decided to experiment this week with a few different ideas.  Last night was my first adventure in search of the perfect Superbowl appetizer.
What you need:
Wonton Wrappers
Whipped Cream Cheese (I used low-fat)
Mild Sweet Chili Sauce (or for more of a kick get the hotter flavor)
Fresh Basil -shredded (optional)
Water (for sealing the edges)
Powdered Sugar
1. Mix cream cheese, basil and sweet chili sauce together in a small bowl (Use as much sauce as you like, but just remember the more you put in, the more of a bite there will be). Set aside.
2. Take wonton wrappers and lay them on the counter.  Add a dollop of the mixture in the center of the wonton.  (Be sure not to put too much in, or it will spill out the sides.)

3. Wet the tip of your finger with water and run it along the perimeter of the wonton.  Fold the corner to meet the opposite corner and seal by crimping the edges with a fork.

4. Heat a small sautee pan on medium heat.  Place wontons 2-3 at a time (depending on pan size) into greased and heated pan.  They will begin to crisp quite quickly and some filling may spill out the sides, this is okay.

5. Remove from pan and dust with powdered sugar.  You could also serve with a plum, duck or soy sauce.
*If you are not serving the wontons immediately, place wontons on greased cookie sheet and place oven on 350 convection to keep them crisp before serving.
