“Bananarama”- Homemade Banana Bread French Toast
Move over boring regular french toast, banana bread french toast has taken your place!  Over the weekend I made a loaf of banana bread and I couldn’t help but to try making banana bread french toast this morning.  I don’t think I’ll ever go back to making it the old way!
What you need: (this recipe is to make 1 thick piece of french toast)
1 thick slice of Banana Bread- (I couldnt find my Grandma’s Recipe so I resorted to this recipe)
1 egg
1/2 tsp of pure vanilla extract
2-3 Tbsp of Milk
1. Toast the thick piece of banana bread in the toasted until it is lightly crisped on both sides (I believe if you don’t toast it, it will fall apart in the egg mixture). Set aside.
2. In a shallow bowl, combine egg, milk and vanilla.  Mix well.
3. Then lay the toasted piece of banana bread in the egg mixture and coat the bread well on both sides.
4. Grease a sautee pan and set on medium-low heat.  Wait until pan is hot then add the soaked piece of banana bread.  Cook on both sides.  If it the bread seems as if the egg mixture isn’t cooked enough, add a lid to the pan and it will help to cook the egg.
5. Serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup!

*To make a low-fat version of this, follow this banana bread recipe or any other low-fat banana bread recipes you have.  Also, when you make the french toast, be sure to use egg whites and skim milk instead.
